Preparing for Mia's Arrival 🐘🐼🐨
Believe it or not, we have been preparing Mia's nursery since the beginning of 2018. It's crazy to think that around the time we started planning to adopt- Mia was born. We started out with a more gender neutral room since we had no idea who or when we would be adopting. Throughout this process, we were continually told that we would be more likely to be matched with a boy than a girl. Statistically speaking, this is true and definitely has been the case in the adoption community. It was not easy to maintain a "neutral" feel for the room, especially since this Mama secretly had her heart set on a little girl. I can't help but to think that all throughout this process of unknowns for us, God knew precisely who our child would be, and when I look at her room today, and imagine her sleeping soundly in her crib, playing on her rug with toys and blocks, scooting around on her bumble bee scooter and lounging on Mr. Bear for story time with Daddy. This room was always for Mia.
For the record, it is really, really, really hard to keep a jumbo bear and large assortment of stuffed animals out of the mouth of a dog, who for the past 8 years has been devoted to shredding, and gutting any stuffy she sets eyes on.
Once Mia is here, and these animals are more than just decorations in an empty room- it will be interesting to see what happens.
